Image registration and fusion are critical operations that are needed in analysis of multiple medical, remote sensing, defense, and industrial images. Image registration brings two or more images of a scene into spatial alignment and makes it possible to detect moving objects, calculate image flow, detect scene changes, correct for image distortion or object deformation, and recognize objects. Once the images are registered, they can be fused to combine structural and functional, multi-focus, multi-exposure, or temporal information to create a highly informative image for analysis and decision making. Papers are sought that advance the theoretical foundations of image registration and fusion, or present new applications in which image registration and fusion play a key role. |
