Often the images to be fused are not aligned/registered. To properly fuse the images, there is a need to spatially align
the images, bringing the images under the same coordinate system. Once the images are registered, the fusion process
can begin. A software developed by
Image Fusion Systems Research first registers the images and then fuses them in
such a way to maximize the entropy of the fused image. The process ensures that the created image c
arries the most
on about the underlying scene. Example uses of this software on various indoor/outdoor images are given below.
In each case, the fused image is shown larger to enable visual evaluation of the result.
